Our Emergency Veterinarians

Dr. Brian Schillig

Dr. Schillig did his undergraduate studies at Bowling Green State University and his veterinary medical degree from The Ohio State University in 1999. He started his career in emergency medicine outside of Cleveland, Ohio, working in Connecticut then Canton Ohio, before working in a busy specialty hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Schillig is driven by the human animal bond and helping to get his patients and their owners through the stressful events that usually surround a visit to the emergency veterinarian.

Outside of work, Dr. Schillig is passionate about doing his part for the environment, including powering his home and vehicle with solar energy and even riding his bicycle in place of driving his car when at all feasible. Dr. Schillig does love to ride his bicycle, even if it’s to nowhere on his Peloton. His spare time when not seeing patients or straddling a bicycle, Dr. Schillig spends with his daughter(13) and son(10).

Dr. Lauren Clements

Dr. Clements received her undergraduate and veterinary medical degree from Oklahoma State University. She has strong interest in emergency medicine and has been with Animal Urgent Care since 2008.

Her love of puppies and ponies made her want to be a veterinarian. Since coming to North Carolina, Dr. Clements has become a big fan of North Carolina State University. Go Pack!

Dr. Alicyn Cross

Dr. Alicyn Cross received her BS from Michigan State University before completing her veterinary medical degree from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She has strong interests in soft tissue surgery and wound repair/reconstruction. Dr. Cross completed her internship at Carolina Veterinary Specialists

Fun fact, Dr. Cross used to breed and show chinchillas. She loves seeing a sick or injured pet leave better and all patched up. In her spare time, Dr. Cross enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
